From 2003 until her retirement in 2014 Susan O’Connor was the Executive Director of the Timothy Smith Network, a regional consortium of community technology centers in the greater Roxbury section of Boston, MA working toward the community’s economic advancement through technology proficiency.
In 2000 Susan started O’Connor & Crew, a consulting company focused on helping community organizations implement appropriate and relevant computer-training programs for their clients and staff. In this role, Susan created several curricula for use in community technology centers. Examples include: Homework Help for Parents and Learning through Earning. The Timothy Smith Network was one of her clients for three years and she was hired as its first full-time Director in 2005.
Susan has over 25 years experience in the banking industry developing and supporting application software and operating systems, managing large projects in a corporate environment, managing staff and annual budgets in excess of $1m, building Internet sites, and procuring and managing Web-based training. For ten years she was the Manager of Technical Training at BankBoston where she managed the unit responsible for all PC-related and computer-based training including developing curriculum and materials for internally developed applications and supporting corporate-wide rollouts of software upgrades.
As an undergraduate, Susan majored in mathematics, physics and secondary education at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI. She received a Master of Science in Training & Development from Lesley College in 1994.
