We begin tonight with new steps announced by Mayor Walsh to make travel in Boston less dangerous and less congested. In his address to the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, the mayor said he wants make the default speed limit for motor vehicles even lower--at twenty miles an hour.

A ribbon-cutting took place yesterday in Mattapan for the new stop on the Fairmount-Indigo Line, at Blue Hill Avenue. Only a quarter of a mile from Mattapan Square, the station's a new alternative, in a community that's underserved for commuting to downtown Boston.

Cooperation between the Boston Police and federal immigration authorities has triggered a legal challenge--from the U-S Department of Labor. At issue is a move to deport an immigrant who was trying to get compensation after an injury from his work for Tara Construction.
