Our top story: Officials move to put tighter controls on money for student activities in the Boston schools. This follows an audit showing many schools failed to keep records on how the money was spent. For some of the spending on outside vendors, there was also a lack of information for pay tax payments.

The city's taking steps to allow redevelopment of the public works yard near the Mass Ave exit on Southeast Expressway. The property includes the the city's tow lot, on Frontage Road. According to the Globe, one official says the options for redevelopment could include a new sports stadium--possibly for the New England Revolution.

Office buildings in the South Boston Seaport District are getting more breathing room, thanks to a new stretch of public space. The grand opening for Harbor Way.. was celebrated yesterday with a block party.
